Arya was born of the sea, she was an 'immortal' creature. Being very beautiful and charming she caught the interest of two Gods, the God of Wind, Khrusys and the God of Fire, Antoch; Brothers. She fell in love with both of them, but ended up spending many years with the God of Wind as his wife. Jealous, the God of Fire plotted against them and 'killed' Arya. But because she was made to be an immortal, she just ended up being reincarnated over and over again. Her memories slowly fading with each reincarnation. But the two Gods continue to dog her in each life. For a time she remembered her love the Wind God, but as time went on she forgot him and her personality continued to have small changes, making it so that she was basically slowly falling out of love with him. Due to that he became bitter, though he still tries every now and again to trick her into falling in love with him again.

Unable to keep Arya as their own the pair of brother gods dog the object of their deepest desires from life to life, using their otherworldly abilities to manipulate her relationships and steer them away from potential romance.
If they can't have her well then why should anyone else?
