Lucien joined the police academy when he was twenty years old, turning twenty one just in time for graduation day. He spent six years on the force, his quick thinking and excellent intuition driving him quickly up the ladder. When he was twenty three he became a detective. In his second year as a detective he was put on a case involving a serial killer that was obsessed with the 'dark arts'. He spent a year chasing after the lunatic, when he finally got a lead as to where the guy was hiding out he called it in, but decided to take things into his own hands until backup arrived. Before he could arrest the psychopath he 'cursed' him. Of course the gibberish he spewed only made the kick to his face he delivered all the more satisfying, but a few days later, he began feeling... strange. Blacking out, waking up in different places loosing chunks of time.

When his daughter began talking about another man living with them when he wasn't around the detective decided to put up hidden cameras around his house. What he discovered was disturbing to say the least. When he blacked out his body went through a transformation. Hair darkening to a pitch black, attitude changing, tastes in clothing, food and just about everything else altering to someone else’s prerogative. While this other person didn't seem to be a threat to Titania, at least not from what the girl and video evidence let on, Lucien decided that until this abnormality was remedied his daughter needed a more stable home. Thus he called home, vaguely explained his situation and sent his daughter to live with her grandmother for a time.

Soon the episodes began interfering with his work life as well, he could no longer work late nights, he could hardly concentrate on his cases and in the end decided to quit. But knowing he had to have some sort of income he started up a private investigations bureau; Giving him time to find a cure to his situation, as well as a means of supporting himself.
